In this tech troubleshooting tutorial video, I'll show how to fix the Jade Empire crash on startup, also called "launch crash" and also called "configuration utility launch crash", because this crash is generally directly related to the configuration utility of Jade Empire. The context of this problem is a small incompatibility glitch between the configuration utility of the video game and hardware that was released after the game. For a lot of users, this is a quite troublesome tech bug because it effectively prevents Jade Empire from properly launching. In this situation, players are not even able to go to the game's main menu.

Moreover, due to the lack of any type of error message appearing, some gamers are left clueless as to why the problem is happening in the first place. The only clue that briefly shows is the config utility window, which appears to start, but briefly thereafter is closed, and this is the reason why some people refer to this problem as "config utility crash". Indeed, in the case of this problem, the root cause of the issue is indeed related to the configuration utility of Jade Empire, and in this video, this is the issue we'll be solving.

To fix the problem, follow the steps of the video.

1. Open Jade Empire game folder
2. Open "data" subfolder
3. In the File Explorer at the top of the screen, click "View"
4. Move the mouse to "Show / Hide"
5. Enable "File extensions"
Obs.: Check whether "File extensions" is already enabled. In the video, I show an example of the check mark you need to verify in order to know whether this option is currently enabled in the system. It's important to check, because if it is already enabled and you click it, then you'll be deactivating it. Thus, look for the check mark, just like how I showed in the video.
6. Right-click anywhere in the folder
7. Move the mouse to "New" - Select "Text Document"
8. In the created text document, click "File" - Click "Save As"
9. In "Save as type", click it - Choose "All files"
10. Change the name of the file to "SystemInformation.xml"
11. Save it
12. Check if the "SystemInformation.xml" file has been created
13. Delete the "New Text Document" file
14. If you want, you can now deactivate the "Show file extensions" option, depending on your preferences

Jade Empire has a configuration utility that is generally necessary to run in order to be able to play the game. Due to incompatibilities between a video game and hardware, in some cases, this configuration utility has issues running, which prevents the game from starting up and causes the launch problem. By creating this "SystemInformation.xml" file, we are helping Jade Empire's configuration utility tool process. The result is that we are now able to launch the game.
